Let this be a lesson to all Hamilton TiCat fans – never bet against the Green and White! McMaster University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Patrick Deane made a wager with University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vianne Timmons on the 2013 Grey Cup. Whoever lost the bet would wear the winning team’s jersey.
“Here in Hamilton we are very proud of our TiCats,” said President Deane. “Only a very strong team could have beaten them. Congratulations to Saskatchewan on a decisive and historic win.”
“I am pleased to see that Dr. Deane is a man of his word,” said President Timmons. “I am aware that his principal research interest is British writing of the period 1914-45, so he may be familiar with the following and very fitting quotation from Sir Winston Churchill: ‘Everyone has his day, and some days last longer than others.’”
The Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Hamilton Tiger Cats 45-23 in the 2013 Grey Cup.
