On Friday, June 20, the University of Regina's Aboriginal Student Centre will be hosting National Aboriginal Day
festivities on the U of R Dr. Lloyd Barber academic green. Members of the public as well as members of the University
community are invited to participate in the events, which take place between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
For many generations, Aboriginal groups have celebrated their culture and heritage on the summer solstice. For that
reason, in co-operation with national Aboriginal organizations, the Government of Canada each year designates June 21 as
National Aboriginal Day. Because National Aboriginal Day falls on a weekend this year, the Aboriginal Student Centre
has chosen to celebrate Aboriginal culture and heritage a day early in order to involve as many people from the University
community as possible.
