Be sure to tune in to the CBC Radio show Ideas this Friday to hear Computer Science Professor David Gerhard talk about 3D printing, a form of manufacturing that is revolutionizing how people make and get things. Sometimes referred to as “desktop manufacturing” 3D printing is making it possible for people to make customizable objects in their homes with digital technology.

“I think the real potential of 3D printing is starting to be realized now that artists and designers are making things like sculptures and jewelry,” said Gerhard. “There’s even a group in the states 3d-printing custom mouthpieces for clarinets!"
