Public lecture teaches us about services available to Aboriginal students at the U of R
Sabrina Sparvieer, manager of the Aboriginal Student Centre at the University of Regina, spends her day helping Aboriginal and Métis students adjust to campus life. Originally from the Cowessess First Nation, near Broadview, Saskatchewan, Sparvier is proud of the work the Aboriginal Student Centre does in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment at the University while ensuring the campus embraces both First Nations and Métis values. Sparvier, who holds a bachelor of administration degree, will present a lecture to the public on the valuable work being done at the Aboriginal Student Centre when she delivers the upcoming Nourishing Thoughts at the Food Bank lunchtime lecture series.

Join Sparvier on Wed., May 14 at 12:00 p.m. at the Education Centre at the Food Bank (425 Winnipeg Street) for a free lunch and lecture titled "The Aboriginal Student Centre - a link to student services at the University of Regina." The public is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation.

Sparvier will discuss the services provided by the Aboriginal Student Centre, which include pre-admission counselling for Aboriginal students entering the University, access to Aboriginal Elders to assist and support students, and access to support services such as faculty advising and student awards and scholarships.

Nourishing Thoughts at the Food Bank is a lunchtime lecture series sponsored by the Centre for Continuing Education Credit Studies Division at the University of Regina, in partnership with the Regina and District Food Bank.
