Item Open Access Archer Library Award 2025 - Reflective Essay(University of Regina Library, 2025-01) Nelson, AddisenDuring the 2024 Fall Semester I was enrolled in MUHI 202 – Music History 202 - in which the final project was a research paper and bibliography assignment based on a composer and one of the compositions. This research paper had multiple research heavy assignments that came before it. This assignment, and all the assignments before it, were designed to give the first year students in this class – which was most of us- a chance to learn the ins and outs of the Archer Library database.Item Open Access Pauline Viardot-Garcia (1821-1910) - Solitude(Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance, 2024-12-11) Nelson, AddisenLike many of the Nineteenth-Century Romantic composers, Pauline Viardot-Garcia (1821-1910) was a skilled pianist, though she is best known for her vocal prowess. According to Beatrix Borchard, Viardot-Garcias's compositions often fit her vocal abilities, as well as her colleagues which includes Viardot-Garcia's piece Solitude.1 An art song, Solitude is in French, and the text was written by Édouard Turquety (1807-1867). it was originally published in a French magazine and later included in a collection titled Dix melodies par Pauline Viardot: Album des chant pour 1850.2 Viardot’s works were not often performed, and the premiere date of this piece is unknown.
