Item Open Access Sedley(Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Regina, 2016-11) Coupal, Chelsea Ann; Lundy, Randy; Purdham, Medrie; Benning, Sheri“Sedley” is a collection of original regionalist poetry set in a contemporary Saskatchewan town of the same name. It focuses on the people who reside in the community, the landscape that surrounds it, and the speaker’s interactions with both. The speaker grew up in the town, and has an ambivalent relationship with it: she loves aspects of the place—the Prairies, for instance— but she also wants to leave and seek out new experiences. The community itself is changing. It is evolving from a rural farming community to a commuter town. These are poems that mourn Sedley, and celebrate it.
