This paper is a reflection of my experiences at the Lloydminster Mental Health and Addictions Services office during my field practicum placement from June 2014 to September 2014. This paper looks at my previous background with mental health and includes a description of the agency with its challenges and barriers to service. My learning goals and objectives during my placement included: furthering my professional development and knowledge in the field of clinical counselling during my field hours. This included greater understanding of the theoretical frameworks of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused and Client Centered and the importance of the client counsellor relationship. In this paper, I also examine three case studies where theoretical knowledge was applied in practice. I conclude with thoughts on the connections between the role of counsellors to clients, counsellors to agency and counsellors to self.en_US
