A pilot study of a mid-scale composting system was developed, and laboratory and field tests were conducted to optimize the design. This hot composting system consists of several 3-bin turning units designed to manage batches of organic waste and to produce finished compost annually. Community garden volunteers operate the system manually, and then use the finished compost on site.en_US
