Feature Story: Scholarship commemorates University's independence

Abstract

“I came to the University of Regina so I could be immersed in the local community,” says Derek Cameron. The first-year political science and history student is taking full advantage of his post-secondary educational experience. “I’m loving university,” says Cameron, who adds that he’s joined on-campus groups, intramurals and has “met really cool, like-minded people from all faculties.” In the future Cameron hopes to go into politics or law. This semester, he’s already received more than $10,000 in scholarships – money that Cameron says will go a long way in helping him achieve this dream.
