Item Open Access Archer Library Award 2025 - Reflective Essay(University of Regina Library, 2025-01) Nelson, AddisenDuring the 2024 Fall Semester I was enrolled in MUHI 202 – Music History 202 - in which the final project was a research paper and bibliography assignment based on a composer and one of the compositions. This research paper had multiple research heavy assignments that came before it. This assignment, and all the assignments before it, were designed to give the first year students in this class – which was most of us- a chance to learn the ins and outs of the Archer Library database.Item Open Access Pauline Viardot-Garcia (1821-1910) - Solitude(Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance, 2024-12-11) Nelson, AddisenLike many of the Nineteenth-Century Romantic composers, Pauline Viardot-Garcia (1821-1910) was a skilled pianist, though she is best known for her vocal prowess. According to Beatrix Borchard, Viardot-Garcias's compositions often fit her vocal abilities, as well as her colleagues which includes Viardot-Garcia's piece Solitude.1 An art song, Solitude is in French, and the text was written by Édouard Turquety (1807-1867). it was originally published in a French magazine and later included in a collection titled Dix melodies par Pauline Viardot: Album des chant pour 1850.2 Viardot’s works were not often performed, and the premiere date of this piece is unknown.Item Open Access Archer Library Award 2025 Photographs(University of Regina Library, 2025-01) Dr. John Archer Library and Archives, University of ReginaAward 2025 2.jpg: Brett Waytuck presents the Dr. John Archer Library Award certificate to Addisen Nelson Award 2025 5.jpf: (left to right) left to right are: Gillian van der Ven (Music Librarian), David Dick (Dean, Faculty of MAP), Brett Waytuck (Dean, University Libraries Archives), Addisen Nelson (Dr. John Archer Library Award 2025 recipient), Barbara Reul (Professor, Department of Music), Melissa Morgan (Head, Department of Music) Award 2025 6.jpg: Addisen Nelson with the Dr. John Archer Library Award plaque Award 2025 7.jpg: Addisen Nelson with the Dr. John Archer Library Award trophy Award 2025 8.jpg: Addisen Nelson and Barbara Reul (Professor, Department of Music)Item Open Access Fifth-annual author recognition event celebrates creative works with U of R connection(University Advancement & Communications, University of Regina, 2019-11-22) Duck, GregThe University of Regina is home to many gifted wordsmiths. As an aspiring art historian and curator, I chose to develop a curatorial report, which involved creating an electronic exhibition of artworks that were researched throughout the semester. I am very interested in Regina-based art history and especially the “Regina Clay” ceramic folk art movement. My electronic exhibition included a return to the “Canada Trajectoires ‘73” exhibition, which was held in Paris in 1973 and involved a number of ceramists connected to Regina Clay. I obtained the French-language exhibition catalogue, written by Suzanne Page, through the Archer Library. The catalogue significantly informed my report, entitled “Regina 1973: Trajectories in Clay.”
